Case study:
Coral reef restoration through science and community engagement
This case study highlights the collaborative work of Raising Coral Costa Rica and Fundecooperación para el Desarrollo Sostenible to demonstrate the potential of responsible coral restoration in Costa Rica. Beyond its ecological benefits, restoration is shown to be a socially and economically viable approach—one that generates alternative livelihoods and brings together diverse sectors of society in support of reef conservation. At its core, this effort recognizes and celebrates the symbiotic relationship between people and coral reefs.
